MISEREOR

Jinghong Vocational Training School (VTS) has been approved by MISEREOR for a training project in October, 2001, which trains the village authorities and farmer-technicians of eight pilot villages with agriculture techniques. The eight villages are all upland communities which were selected from Xishanbanna prefecture.

The objective of this project is to provide professional expertise and training to the leaders and staff of the VTS and Education Commission in Jinghong.

* Planning workshop for the VTS project, work plan for 2002 and review of project proposal.

* Training of trainer''''s workshop in Menglun with field work in 3 villages (Baka, Kongge, Akhe).

* Offering an opportunity to VTS teaches to take part in the Training Workshop about Indigenous Knowledge in Tacheng, Diqin ( one week).

* Coaching, monitoring and evaluation of trainings.

* Support the Summer Farmer Fair, which has held in VTS from 20th to 24th in June.

* Finalize the publications based on the previous training materials and experiences

* Monitoring and evaluation of VTS-project.

After one-year, the success of VTS-project has been approved by most of the evaluation results from project activities. Teachers evolved in VTS have made a big progress on both the adult education and the understanding of indigenous knowledge. The capacity of CBIK, especially young staff evolved, has been improved a lot.
